Faith in Our City Tour - for Groups or Religious Studies
Liverpool Anglican & Metropolitan Cathedrals, Greek Orthodox Church & Princes Road Synagogue, St James in the City (cast iron church) & Scandinavian Seamen’s Church.
Perfect as a lighthearted city tour using a religious theme visiting incredible buildings or as a school and educational tour for Religious Studies.
These buildings are individually spectacular with amazing architectural features. By combining a walking or coach tour of them all in a day trip, your group will gain an extremely light-hearted insight into the customs and cultures of the separate faiths as well as seeing inside some of the most ornate and awe-inspiring buildings in Liverpool.
If you want a cathedral we've got one to spare!
Your Tour Guide will meet your group at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and take you on a short guided walk along Hope Street (which we believe to be the only street in the world with a cathedral at either end) to the World’s fifth largest cathedral; Liverpool Anglican Cathedral for refreshments. After a short guided tour, we will take a walk through the beautiful St James Gardens to visit Princes Road Synagogue with a beautiful interior. Next it’s the Greek Orthodox Church which is stunning and then we will take a guided walk down the hill passing St James in the City which has a cast-iron frame to visit our final stop the uniquely octagonal Scandinavian Seamen’s Church; Gustav Adolf Kyrka which is a Lutheran Church and it is noted for its extremely friendly welcome.
Although the guided tour takes in a lot of religious buildings the route itself is spectacular with views over the river from St James Mount, and lots of quirky non-religious things and you can be assured this guided tour is lots of fun. Your tour guide will use the buildings and other hidden gardens, plaques and statues to tell a story about Liverpool and once again bring the city to life.
The tour will finish at the fabulous Albert Docks where there are lots of shops and restaurants for you to buy your own lunch and souvenirs and where you can spend the rest of your day at leisure.
Option to extend this tour to Two days in Liverpool - This tour would work particularly well with an overnight stop in a quality Liverpool Hotel and then a coach excursion to North Wales to visit the catholic shrine at Holywell with its beautiful architecture and claimed healing waters. We would then visit the Marble Church at St Asaph and spend the rest of the day in Llandudno after visiting the smallest church in the UK!
All guests will be given a free map of Liverpool City Centre
